Registration opens on April 7, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>

Budapest Neutron Centre<\/a> (HUN-REN Centre for Energy Research) announces the 16th Central European Training School and Workshop on Neutron Techniques to be held between 4th and 9th October in Budapest,\u202fHungary. The annual Central European Training Schools are aimed at students and young researchers who are interested in using neutron techniques in their research projects. Following the introductory lectures on the theory and on the different neutron techniques by local experts (in two and a half days), participants may choose five of the BNC instruments to perform three hour hands-on practices each under the tuition of the instrument scientists.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>

Registration deadline:\u202f1st June, 2026.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Workshop will be help after the opening ceremony, where participants will have the chance to display a poster and to give a presentation to highlight their research project described in the poster.\u00a0 This year, we welcome young researchers to master advanced methods alongside senior scientists who will attend to share their experience. Due to space limitations at the experimental stations, for the hand-on practices CETS 2026 can only accept 30 students.<\/p>

A\u00a0registration\u00a0fee\u00a0of 100 EUR<\/span><\/b>\u202fwill\u00a0be\u00a0charged\u00a0from\u00a0the\u00a0participants\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0meals\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0printed\u202f<\/span>course material of the practices<\/span><\/a>. A\u00a0few\u00a0grants\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0available\u00a0for\u00a0students.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

A visit to\u202f<\/span>Mirrotron Ltd.<\/span><\/a>, a spin-off company on the same campus, producing various kinds of neutron instrumentation (supermirrors, area detectors, choppers, velocity selectors, polarizers, etc.) and sponsor of CETS will complete the practical experience of the participants.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

CETS has\u00a0started\u00a0to\u00a0become\u00a0part of\u00a0the\u00a0higher\u00a0education.<\/span><\/b>\u202fThe\u00a0combined\u00a0theory\u00a0&\u00a0hands-on\u00a0training\u00a0school\u00a0of BNC has\u00a0been\u00a0accredited\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0Doctorate\u00a0School\u00a0of\u00a0Physics\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd University of\u00a0Sciences\u00a0Budapest, and\u00a0that\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Budapest University of\u00a0Technology\u00a0and\u00a0Economics.\u00a0Earning\u00a0credits\u00a0is\u00a0now\u00a0a\u00a0possibility\u00a0not\u00a0only\u00a0for\u00a0students\u00a0of\u00a0Hungarian\u00a0universities,\u00a0but, in\u00a0principle\u00a0\u2013\u00a0through\u00a0the\u202f<\/span>ECTS<\/span><\/a>\u202f\u2013\u00a0for\u00a0students of universities Europe-wide. For those participants who request university credits, the oral and poster presentation, completion of the online test and submission of an essay – on how their research could be made more effective using neutrons – will all be required.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
