On 2–3 October 2026, the International Scientific Advisory Committee (ISAC) and the User Selection Panel (USP) met at the Budapest Neutron Centre to review the significant organisational, infrastructural and scientific progress made at BNC and the Budapest Research Reactor over the past 18 months.
The programme opened with a series of scientific presentations, showcasing recent experimental results obtained using BNC instruments. Committee members also visited the Cold Neutron Guide Hall.
During the USP’s closed session, the concept of the new user software system was presented. The first day concluded with a joint dinner attended by ISAC and USP members and BNC management, providing an opportunity for informal professional discussions and exchange.
The second day focused on strategic topics. ISAC and USP members received updates on the current status of the HUN‑REN Centre for Energy Research, the Budapest Research Reactor and the renewed Budapest Neutron Centre. A new concept for the future cold neutron source was also presented for discussion and advisory review.
The meeting concluded with ISAC presenting its consolidated recommendations and strategic guidance to BNC management, contributing to the continued development and future scientific direction of the Budapest Neutron Centre.
