The mission of BNC is to provide neutron research opportunities to pioneering and inspiring innovation for users from across Europe. Our instruments are offered through international open access user programmes in which we also participating.
According to the ENSA survey BNC provides research opportunities for about 500 potential neutron users in the Central-European region. Thus the Budapest Research Reactor, together with the facilities of the BNC, represents one of the largest research infrastructures in Hungary and Central Europe.
Furthermore, BNC dedicated to contributing in-house research programs; to provide internal services for the reactor operation, and to support its scientific staff to participate in joint research projects, and also to help instrument scientists in coordinating advertising and providing commercial service to the industrial customers. The BNC involved in the education providing BSc, MSc, and PhD courses in numerous Hungarian universities, as well organizes an international neutron school (Central European Training School on Neutron Techniques), which offers a combination of theoretical and practical training. The BNC regularly trains foreign researchers delegated by the IAEA.
