BNC has committed to supporting four researchers within the TWINNING programme of NEPHEWS.

What TWINNING program of NEPHEWS for, how does it work and what does it cover?

  • The purpose of the Twinning programme is to give inexperienced scientists, who have not previously worked at neutron facilities, the opportunity to learn about the capabilities, instrumentation, available techniques, and practical aspects of neutron measurements.
  • New Users in the User-twinning programme can join experienced User groups, engaging in experiments to deepen their knowledge of measurement techniques and facility usage in their scientific careers.
  • Each new user in the Twinning Programme will spend about a week with the host user group, being directly involved in the experiment conducted on-site. For the twinning guests the travel and subsistence costs are covered by the NEPHEWS project.

In practice, Twinning means enabling the candidate to visit BNC, observe the BNC instruments, understand how measurements are performed, and gain practical knowledge through direct interaction with experienced scientists.
