We are pleased to announce that our colleague, Maria Gracheva, has been honoured with the prestigious IBAME Young Scientist Award. This award recognises a significant contribution to an application of the Mössbauer effect.

Maria’s doctoral research explored various processes in iron metabolism in plants and microorganisms, utilising Mössbauer spectroscopy as a key analytical method. Her work revealed how root exudates and microbial metabolites act as key agents in making iron accessible.

The study was met with great appreciation from the Mössbauer community, which recognised its interdisciplinary approach and significant contributions to the field.

Maria Gracheva was awarded the prize at the 38th International Conference on the Applications of the Mössbauer Effect (ICAME) in Gdańsk, Poland, between 7th and 12th September 2025.
